Scugnizzo is a hidden Italian restaurant in Melbourne CBD that is popular with locals and visitors, offering authentic southern Italian cuisine since 2010. Tucked away in the charming laneway of Merritts Place, just off King Street and a short stroll from Marvel Stadium, we provide a true taste of Italy in the heart of the city.

Our menu crafted with passion by owner and head Chef Carmine and features house-made pasta – including gluten-free options – as well as seasonal specials such as a premium 350g scotch fillet steak and a rotating fish of the day. Carmine is constantley inspired by the cuisine of his home town of Naples, you can expect to be transported to Italy through the flavours of his dishes especially those from the specials board. As a well-loved Italian restaurant in Melbourne CBD, we take pride in showcasing fresh ingredients and classic flavours with every dish.

Step into the kitchen and learn the art of handmade gnocchi with Scugnizzo’s head chef and owner, Carmine. This is more than a cooking class — it’s a warm, hands-on experience that will leave you with skills, confidence and a seriously full stomach.

What’s included

Carmine will guide you through every step of the gnocchi making process, from preparing the perfect dough to mastering texture, flavour and technique. You’ll also learn how to cook your gnocchi to perfection and discover which sauces and flavour combinations bring out the very best in this classic Italian dish.
